ACNA 2009: Bishop Schofield Interview
Of litigation, vision, and angels. The Rt. Rev. John-David Schofield, Bishop of the Diocese of San Joaquin, speaks candidly about what's happening in and around his diocese, as well as events leading up to the formation of the ACNA. Bishop Schofield makes it clear that the ACNA is not a fringe group, and he comments on the importance of Metropolitan Jonah's willingness to dialogue.

My 14-year-old daughter was confirmed by Bishop Schofield in January. "He has the kindest eyes," she said. "He'd be a great Santa Claus." He preached on St. Paul's conversion that day.
We had about 30 non-Anglican family and friends present (mostly Roman Catholics and Pentecostals) and they all fell in love with him!
He does have a lot of personal charisma -- I'm at an absolute loss to explain the bitterness of his critics.
Why do they keep estimating
Why do they keep estimating only 100,000 members in the ACNA ? I wonder if people like me who belongs to a TEC parish but consider myself a true Anglican, are counted. There must be thousands all over the country who are "stuck" in a TEC parish but consider themselves a part of the ACNA !
Miami, so far, has no parishes outside TEC but as aoon as I find one - I'm gone !
I would like to start contributing monthly to the ACNA and need to know how to go about it ! Where do I sesnd the check ?

MyrnaJo, Have you thought
MyrnaJo,
Have you thought about starting a new Anglican parish in Miami? I don't know if you can get in touch with other "stuck" TEC-ers, but if you can you should see if ACNA bishops could send a priest your way.
Myrna Jo, you might consider
Myrna Jo, you might consider getting together with other believers and start a church/mission. There should be a link from this site about how to contribute: http://www.theacna.org/ AND visit this one about church planting, applying for mission status, etc. -- http://www.anglican-church-planting.org/

I wish all episcopal churches
I wish all episcopal churches could be given a chance to vote on whether or not they want to remain episcopal churches or become members of the acna. I know my church would make the split. I have been called to become a priest and was planning on going to seminary next year. I looked into all of the ivy league ones and General but was bitterly disappointed at the far left liberal views. Any suggestions on where a conservative woman might find a good conservative seminary? It will have to be accredited as I am dependent on loans. I have been an episcopalean for only about 8 months and frankly I find the episcopal church frightening at this point. My fellow church members are basically conservative as well so I had no idea just how far from God's word the episcopal church has drifted. I feel so foolish!
Leave the TEC at this point.
Leave the TEC at this point. They have gone too far. Join the new Anglican Church in North America+ :) But as far as a conservative seminary that still exists is Nashotah House in Nashotah, Wisconsin. Conservative, anglo-Catholic and also advertised and appears to be recognized by the Anglican Church in North America though it may still be in the orbit of TEC. God Bless You in your search. :) rpagliughi@comcast.net

Well, you are not alone. I too feel that TEC has gone over the edge.Very sad day. :( Some in my local parish are not happy. Some have begun to leave. I too have switched my membership to the Anglican Church in North America but was permitted to worship at my local parish knowing how I feel. That's nice to hear. MY pastor feels the same as I do but will try to move forward with our middle of the road parish. Those who are fed up, pray and let God lead you. I see a promising future with the Anglican Church of North America. Give them a try.
Hi everyone! I am the
Hi everyone! I am the anonymous 'I wish all episcopal churches'...poster from last night, I joined so my name shows up now. Thank you for the good suggestions and encouagement, I am glad others feel as I do. I looked up Trinity and Nashotah House and both look promising. I am definately looking into the acna. I am very fortunate to have an anglican church near me that broke off from the episcopal church that I am leaving. Apparently these people did their homework more quickly than I did. Any way, nice to have a church to go to till seminary. Since the bishop of the diocese in which my church is voted against schori's liberal proposals I have hopes that perhaps he will follow the wisdom of those diocese who have pulled out. I researched the acna after reading the above posts, I am praying that our entire diocese follows suit. I also pray for the eyes of those who stay to be opened. As someone above said, the episcopal church has gone too far and it is time to leave.
Hi Susan, You are courageous
Hi Susan,
You are courageous and brave. Best wishes and God's blessings on your future ministry.
Nashotah House is certainly the most conservative of TEC seminaries, but you also might want to check out Sewanee in Tennessee, and the Episcopal Seminary in Austin, TX. CDSP-Berkeley CA, EDS-Cambridge MA, General-NYC, even VA Theological Seminary have become far left-leaning. You might also check out some other seminaries not affiliated with TEC or Anglican church, or maybe even Anglican seminaries abroad--like in England, etc.
Hope this helps,
